dollhouse

I feel like lately all I've been thinking/talking/eating/sleeping/dreaming is shoes. Platform shoes, ankle boots, lace up wedges, thigh highs, there's just too much to love, really. I swear some of the most loving things I have ever said are about shoes, much to the dismay of my bf. If only I could be as passionate about my legal case studies homework as I am about the striped heel Balenciaga oxfords that are currently on sale at Yoox:) Oh well. Anyways, after I got over (the best I could) the fact that my credit cards and debit cards were jacked from my wallet in my school bag, I was pleased to find that a) I killed an essay I thought sucked, and b) my new babies were waiting patiently for me at my doorstep. I also discovered they're knockoffs of some seriously gorgeous fall collection Balenciaga zipper booties. The best part is that they are the most comfy boots I own, surprisingly. No, wait, I lied, the best part is that they're on sale at Dollhouse.com for $66!

so you had a bad day...

I was going to post today but I had my credit cards and bank card stolen this morning so I'm feeling blue, I know you guys will be understanding. On the bright side, my Dollhouse shoes arrived and you guys are going to be shocked and amazed at their awesomeness. Will post them asap....I promise. In the meantime, I'll leave you all with a little shoe porn. Because...well..pretty shoes cure just about everything, don't they?

p.s. If I was a rich girl, I'd wear those Stella McCartney boots to shovel my driveway, no joke.

One night only

My bf and I decided to get away from the ruckus of school and family life and booked a room at the Sheraton this weekend. I had two goals in mind, to browse Xmas decorated Holt Renfrew with a caramel apple spice in my hand, and to eat room service artichoke dip and cherry sours in a king sized bed while watching step brothers. The lady at the front seemed to misinterpret the intentions of our one night reservation and said at least four times during the course of check in, "onnne nnnnight oooonly", in what seemed like her best soft porn narrator voice. Cracked me up. So as soon as we dropped off our stuff, we ran a mere two blocks to check out Holt Renfrew. I was disappointed to say the least, since I was hoping to find a black Burberry polo shirt for the bf for Xmas, but no such luck. I did find these ammmmmmaaaazzzing Kors shoes though,

and another pair that looked like a hybrid of Timberland boots and rain boots. Make sense? I wish i could find a picture.
So we were about to leave the building when I asked my bf to take a picture of me BEFORE I got destroyed by Canadian weather. Immediately after this picture was taken
Photobucket
A security guard came charging at us for taking pictures. Us dumb dumbs forgot we were in a government building. Oops:P.
So we headed to the mall, stopping in a quaint magazine shop first to pick up this.
I ended up finding three presents, which I considered a minor success, and treated myself to a scrimmage shirt at American Apparel, which I've been wanting for a while. Then, after a long long day, we went to Lonestar for some wicked good fajitas and Heineken. After that, we cabbed back home for some good old junk food and pay per view. Best combo EVER. OH and I forced my bf to document my hotel attire:)

professional photographer

so today I'm almost completely out of clothes, laundry day is way overdue. I thought it would be the perfect time to bust out my D.I.Y. oxfords since I haven't really shown them off yet. I still wish I had a picture of them before, they were sooooo hideous. This MIGHT be the last time you see my hair like this, I'm planning to get it a little spruced up over the weekend and I mean you know there are some crazy ass stylists out there that think that you should be their next guinea pig. The last time I went to a salon, the dude was so freakin scary, I told him I wanted to keep it natural and he's like "No! I give you caramel highlights, bright and bold, with dark brown. Trust me." I never really trusted him, I was just scared that if I objected he'd stab me with his scissors or burn me with a curling iron or something. And, it ended up looking ridiculous on me. All I needed was a camel toe and a wide patent belt to complete the look. So, this time, I'm going to be brave and strong and stand my ground....unless its that scary Russian dude again and then I run;)

same old

I really hesitated putting these pics up because they are so incredibly yawn worthy. Lately I've been dressing like the weather...completely and consistently blah. So today I had this discussion group thing and I was sitting at a table about to put my head when I noticed that somebody had smeared EAR WAX all over the table. Seriously, how does one discreetly pick their ears and wipe it all over tables during a class??? I'm consistently amazing by the utter grossness I find at my school.

makeover

as you may have noticed, I've given the blog a little bit of a much needed face lift. If you guys hate it lemme know, okie dokie? anyways, shucks you guys all guessed my halloween costume. Too bad most people didn't know who I was supposed to be when i was downtown pretending to snort sweet and low off of a phone booth. I have to find those pictures....oh and today's an amazing day because I got two asos orders, one they forgot to write the value on one and therefore I didn't have to pay about $65 in customs and duties. Score. I also found the most perfect studded moto jacket/hoodie, and the most perfect ankle boots maybe EVER.
love, love, love, and love the price too;). Click on them to purchase.
So I got my Harem pants and I can't stop wearing them. I also put my VS booties to good use.

I can scribble!!!

as most of you guys already know, I basically suck at anything arts and crafts related. But I can sharpy and scribble, and so my bowling shoes that before (note to self: take pictures before D.I.Y) looked like a clown threw up on them, I transformed into the weirdest grafitti-ish oxfords ever. I'm pretty proud of myself, although when I wore them to school, nobody really did a double take. Maybe next time I should use neons???

caped crusador

SO after a brutally week I was so so so so soooooo excited to go to the 2nd annual vintage sale at the Chateau Laurier downtown. In addition to being super swank, the whole thing was just my cup of tea. There were three enormous rooms full of vintage goodies, the whole place smelled like pure musk, and I seriously have never seen so much fur in my whole life. Holy tamolly. Anyways, I only got to pick over people's leftovers since I got there about an hour before closing, but I did manage to pick up the weirdest oxfords ever that I plan on spray painting silver or something, and ummmm.....a cape. Yes, I have an obsession that my boyfriend, bless his styleless soul, cannot understand. I don't know what it is, the teeny arm holes, the blanket-esque vibe, or maybe I just like to think I'm a modern day Mary Poppins. But Mary Poppins was a fox, and her cape was super foxy. meow.

doing what I do best...

well, after such an amazing election, I have to say, I'm having QUITE the champagne hangover today. argh. Anyways, of course I did manage to drag my grumpy bum to my laptop to order a few more things from my beloved asos. I know what you're thinking. she's nuts. I did the math and I figured I'd spent almost $500 in the past three weeks on this website alone, excluding customs, which is more than $30 an order (times three). I guess it's best not to think about the amount I spend. On the bright side, I almost have enough money for my summer vacay. I'm planning to get down to L.A., so if anybody's from that area and has any ideas of what to do, where to stay, where to eat, etc., please, free feel to help a sister out. Oh, yes sorry blogging A.D.D, I just picked up the following....

I'm against the harem pants thing about 99%. These are for that 1% for. Thank goodness my judgement doesn't go by democracy;)

This is what the whole order was based around. I have lots of outdated jackets and I love the military details on this, especially on the back, which I don't have a picture of, silly me.

and this hoody dress in grey. I really really really really want to find some amazing ankle boots and a leather jacket for this. I just realized I have neither of those things. shopping is a vicious cycle.
I just also wanted to make a shout out to all my gorgeous wonderful readers. You guys are so rad and a blogger couldn't ask for cooler chicks to associate with. xxoo.

change.

Who knew in any of our lifetimes we'd see the first black president? I called my dad today and for the first time in my life, I heard him cry. He was kicked out of medical school because of a petition against him because he was black. At 77 years ago, he never thought he'd see this happen. I'm so grateful that my uncle, who lives in Washington, D.C. and grew up during segregation and the civil rights movement, and who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, could see this before he passes.

I've had the amazing opportunity to be able to have dinner with the Clintons, have family friends that were civil rights leaders, and even meet incredible people such as Jesse Jackson, the late Coretta Scott King, and even Nelson Mandela. Since I've been very young, I've always been very much involved with politics, mostly thanks to my incredible (and resourceful) parents. This is why this election has held a special place in my heart. What are your thoughts on the 2008 election and/or conquering civil rights impairments in general?
